In what many view as a make or break season for Rex Ryan’s head coaching career, his Buffalo Bills are 0-2 and looking for answers.
The game certainly didn’t lack in excitement for Jets and Bills fans. While neither defense looked stellar – another issue entirely – Gang Green was able to shut down the Bills offense and their Color Rush uniforms when it mattered. The Jets held on for a 37-31 victory that puts them in position to tie for the division lead should New England drop their game against the re-tooled Miami Dolphins this Sunday.
Tyrod Taylor led his Bills to three scores through the air and 297 passing yards, and the defense added six on a scoop and score. But it was all for naught.
Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 374 yards and a touchdown, running back Matt Forte ran for 100 yards and three scores and kicker Nick Folk added three field goals which was too much for Taylor, the Ryans and their Buffalo teammates to overcome.
Could this season be the sunset on the Ryan brother’s days as high profile coaches in the NFL? Only time will tell – but so far this season isn’t shaping up to be one for the ages.
